This has natural horizontal checking. The lacquer has been cured. Making it very brittle and more yellowed.
I did not add any chips. As I do not believe in fake play wear. I did remove the finish from the back. But only to make it extremely smooth. I have always done this, but not for looks. But for smooth, non grip playing. It works out perfectly with a vintage style neck.
I only like to antique stuff that playing can not do. Some of us don't want to wait 20 plus years. I do checking and aged metal.
Your hands should do the rest. This is a very natural looking neck. It is still very clean, and ready for your touch. The extra hole near the truss rod notch. And does not effect anything. You cannot see this when it is mounted. Also note the beautiful rosewood. It almost looks like a 1960's fingerboard. This is a great neck with one of a kind aging. Not even the custom shop can pull this off.
